Today marks my 200th post! It also is the beginning of what I'm going to call "Altered Tuesday". Every Tuesday I'm going to make something altered instead of (or in addition to) my usual beads & jewelry. Sound like fun? Today's altered peice is not quite finished, so I'll post it's picture later!
Anyway--so in honor of my 200th post and the new Altered Tuesday--everyone who leaves a comment on my blog from now until next Altered Tuesday will be entered into a drawing to receive the "Think Pad" pictured below. An original piece of my art--an altered pad of paper perfect for jotting down all your thoughts. Or maybe your grocery list--whatever! So let's see who's game!
Placing big, chunky gemstones this close to the clasp is NOT a good thing. While it looks lovely (IMHO) it just doesn't want to lay nicely against the wrist. You would think after the hundreds of bracelets I have made, I would know that one by now!
Anyway--today will be spent re-making this bracelet and hopefully moving on the the earrings my mother would like!!
Here's a crazy-view shot of my table full of beads! I want to thank everyone who came out to the show--past customers and new customers both. I'm as always very grateful for all the wonderful feedback I get from the people who venture out to the bead shows. Enjoy your beads!!
Here's my haul from the show--lots of cool creations waiting to be made!
Well, today I'm off to Urbandale, Iowa to their bead show! It's at the Living History Farm. Want to buy some beads? Of course you do! Come on out to see us & be sure to say "HI!". I'll be back Sunday night to let you know how it went----
"The Great Green Beaded Thing" challenge is going on over at Beads & Botanicals--click the link to the right to check it out. Here's my project--"The Great Green Beaded Cell Phone Charm". I'm pretty excited about it since I hardly ever make something for myself--everything goes out for sale. This baby is going on my cell phone!
If you've been wondering why all of a sudden I'm listing on eBay--here's the story:
My husband and I are planning on travelling the world in an R.V. Well, not really the "world", maybe just the U.S., Mexico & Canada. Jewels--you have hook-ups? I'll come see ya (park in your driveway)! We've been planning this for the last five years. Selling the house & being a travelling bead show--sounds like fun, yes? I just figured last week that we only have 20 months until we want to leave. 20 months!! That's not very long, now is it? So I'm going to need some extra money--and what better way to get it than to part with some of my beads? Really, it's a win-win situation. You get some beads--I get to leave this cold state. Care to help out a starving (HA! If you've seen me, you know that's not true!) artist??
Okay! Here's some of the new beads I've been working on, as well as a bracelet I finished yesterday out of said beads. The beads are very organic, fun & very flat so they lay nice on your skin. The bracelet says to me "I'm of the Earth--natural--just a bunch of twigs & stones that are braided together". I like that. Enjoy!
Two more crochet bracelets--red & black----I think I might have it out of my system for a bit! The rings on these are handmade & "slide" over the base. No clasp--these bangles just slide over your wrist.
